Oh Sunday! Traveling into Oneself
For working ladies like us, Sunday is that single day when we attempt to find some time for ourselves. For me, Sunday is rather an opportunity to connect back to my soul. Today, it has been an awesome day.
The winter morning did not look promising at the beginning. It’s all party season but I actually had no plans today except to relax and chill out at home with me and myself. After a lazy start, I lugged myself to the terrace to catch a glimpse of the sunny winter sky. It’s been a long long time I have visited my terrace. I sat there till afternoon basking in the warm sun, listening to chirping birds, fighting street cats and watching the pets of the neighbours trolling in the gardens.
The sky was bright azure. The area around is quite green, so it was looking great together. My silent posture was disturbed with the shrill sound of an aeroplane. I got up to get a glance of the plane. All at once, my mind got cluttered with a number of happy childhood memories. I really enjoy the sight of aeroplanes in the sky even till now. It gives me an amazing feeling of freedom may be because I can relate myself to it – moving from one destination to the other, carrying so many stories from one place to another and conquering the limitless skies. I just love the way how it makes its presence felt even behind the curtains of clouds, when no one can see it. That’s how I want to be!
Looking at the sky, some precious words just crossed my mind I had once read :
Oh there is blessing in this gentle breeze,
A visitant that while it fans my cheek
Doth seem half-conscious of the joy it brings
From the green fields, and from yon azure sky.
Whate’er its mission, the soft breeze can come
To none more grateful than to me; escaped
From the vast city, where I long had pined
A discontented sojourner: now free,
Free as a bird to settle where I will.
– William Wordsworth (The Prelude)
I tested my cooking skills in the evening after a long time. I am glad, I passed. Now that I am going to sleep, I thought to share my Sunday with you. Thank you Sunday for connecting me to myself. You made me travel down memory lane, gave me a dash of nostalgia, free spirit and a boost of new energy to start my week ahead. Good night folks! Have a happy Monday!
